| Hi folks
we're going to go to norman's place tmrw for video night. We've got several movies:
Girl With The Pearl Earring Volver Half Nelson The Departed
Please feel free to bring anything you've got which you would also like to see and we'll vote on it when we get there.
We'll
probably buy dinner on the way up (there's very good pizza at the
bakery in Wellcome, underneath the NPAC main church) and I'll bring
movie popcorn.
See you at the Fortress Hill MTR station at
7.00. We'll be waiting until about 7.15, so if you join us, that's
great -- otherwise, I'll assume there are no latecomers to wait for.
If you are joining later and you've been to Norman's place
before, please feel free to arrive on your own. If you are joining late but don't know the directions to
Norman's place, please call me.
Oh
yes, and since I was late to the hiking event on Saturday, Haagen Daz
ice cream will be my treat. =) Remind me to buy it if I forget!!
Yours for an entertaining video night, angie | | |
| 1) This week's info: This week, we have two non-serious movies up for offer at the cinemas: a) Movies at the cinema:- Mr Bean's Holiday
- Synopsis: Mr. Bean returns but not for long as he goes on his travels to the
south of France where mishap and mayhem begin, by the end Bean even has
his video diaries at the Cannes Film Festival. (from imdb.com)
- Meet the Robinsons
- This
is a Disney movie. The characters resemble the ones from Toy Story, and
Pixar is now owned by Disney. If you liked Toy Story, you might like
this one.
- Synopsis: Lewis is a brilliant inventor who meets mysterious stranger named
Wilbur Robinson, whisking Lewis away in a time machine and together
they team up to track down Bowler Hat Guy in a showdown that ends with
an unexpected twist of fate. (from imdb.com)
(It's a bit early to check what movies will be playing on Tuesday
night at the cinemas, so I can only give an update on Sunday or Monday
as to possible cinema locations and showtimes. Please keep checking
your email or the TMC xanga site for updates. Thanks.)b) Video night: Another
option is to watch movies at somebody's house. Norman, can we crash
your place again? =) Recently, we watched half of Volver and didn't
finish it. I think we can show it again, from the beginning, if
Norman's place is available. I'll bring microwave popcorn!

| 1) This week's info: For now, the movies choices for TMC this week are: - Pan's Labyrinth
Plot Outline: (from IMDB)
In the fascist Spain of 1944, the bookish youngstepdaughter of a sadistic army general escapes into an eerie butcaptivating fantasy world.
- Apocalypto (directed by Mel Gibson)
Plot Outline: (from IMDB)
- As the Mayan kingdom faces its decline, the rulers insist the key toprosperity is to build more temples and offer human sacrifices. JaguarPaw (Youngblood), a young man captured for sacrifice, flees to avoidhis fate.
Pleasefeel free to suggest other movies, if you'd like. However, I thinkPan's Labyrinth has been playing slightly longer than Apocalypto, so Isuggest we watch that first this week and try Apocalypto next week. Ihear it hasn't been playing in very many cinemas and I'm afraid it willbe taken off soon.
